Introduction
I’m currently serving as a junior officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), where I’ve been building a strong foundation in technical expertise and public health operations. As I continue to navigate my career, I’m intentionally preparing to transition from primarily technical roles into more senior leadership positions where I can lead teams, manage complex projects, and influence policy at a more strategic level. In support of this path, I will be starting my MBA with a concentration in project management to strengthen my leadership and management capabilities further.
I’m currently taking the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course because it aligns directly with my professional goals. As I shift into leadership roles, I recognize the importance of improving systems, making data-driven decisions, and driving measurable outcomes. This course will equip me with structured methodologies and tools that complement both my MBA studies and my evolving responsibilities as an officer.
Over the next 3–6 months, my goal is to successfully earn the certification and begin applying Lean Six Sigma principles to real-world challenges within my work environment. I want to enhance my ability to identify inefficiencies, implement sustainable improvements, and contribute to more effective and streamlined operations.
This effort impacts not only my professional growth but also the teams I work with, the organization I serve, and the communities our work supports. By strengthening my leadership and process improvement skills, I aim to improve team performance, enhance project execution, and deliver stronger, more strategic outcomes in public health initiatives.
